Learning to Console Yourself.

Over the years there have been some really good games consoles. Unfortunately, they become outdated very quickly and all of your favourite games get taken away by the mists of time…

There were two old consoles I once owned which featured some absolutely cracking games. The first of these was the N64. Nintendo really did excel themselves with this bit of kit and it had a brilliant array of games. ‘Banjo Kazooie’, ‘Jet Force Gemini’, ‘Mario Kart’ and ‘Diddy Kong Racing’ all used to be great fun. Some people were not keen on the large and oddly shaped controller but I never found it to be a problem. It was a wonderful games console and there were so many colourful and cartoony games. And who can ever forget the sublime, ‘Goldeneye’? It still ranks as one of the best first person shooters ever made as far as I’m concerned.

The other games console that is sadly no more is Tapwave’s Zodiac. This was a handheld system that ran games from SD cards; it was also a video and MP3 player. I am not sure why it never took off because in many ways it was well ahead of the completion. I suppose it is all down to the way things are marketed.

The demise of the Zodiac meant the end of one of my favourite games ever, ‘Legacy’. This was the best role play game that I have seen. It wasn’t particularly complex or involved; the thing that made it such fun was the simplicity of the gameplay. I still miss that one very much and the thought of it brings a tear to my eye.

I suppose that we all have found memories of certain games. It is a shame that they have to go away to the great console in the sky.

I am so excited about this weekend everyone! It has been a seemingly endless amount of time since I’ve even thought about being on a canal boat, and it wasn’t even that expensive when we split the cost between us. Inspired idea Hilary, and I picked up those stainless bolts that you asked me to get!

Skype - bringing people together

As a self proclaimed geek, I love the moving world of technology. I love the way it allows us to do things more and more efficiently, to keep in contact with people across the world, even to buy things across the globe without leaving the computer terminal only to have them arrive on our doorstep via mail! The world infrastructure and set up means that you can make things happen on a global level. This can have good results, it can also lead to sadness and disappointments.

I logged onto my computer today, turned my Skype on for the first time in ages, and someone living in the opposite hemisphere to me caught me on “chat”. Now I met this girl whilst travelling in south America, she is a wicked lady. I must admit, I did fancy her a little at the time, and she is in a long term relationship with a guy called Dan. Infact, here is the conversation as it same out.
For reasons of me not getting in trouble, the names have been changed to Tarzan and Jane! (more…)

I can't wait!! I just found out the great 'A-HA' are putting on a small intimate concert, here in London. I am SOOO LUCKY!! This a-Ha-ness is driving Gemma and myself slightly mental. It's going to be incredible. I can't bring myself to do any work now. Another day off work just so I can get int he front row - unless the seats are all set out. I AM SO EXITED!!! So this will mean we'll have seen a-Ha 5 times!! When I first like a-Ha when I was about 9, it never even crossed my mind that I would possibly ever get the chance to see a-Ha in my life, never had I though this would happen. THIS IS GOING TO BE A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! They are the bentest band in the whole world.

Eat that frog by Brian Tracy

I've just read a strange book recommend to my by Alex the crazy museo in the wooden hut at the back of the garden. Strange really, it is little like Bill and Ted's time management book. It does have a strange charm to it though, usually I can't read this type of thing.

The basic concept is very simple it uses the metaphor for work tasks as frogs, and the nastier the task is, the bigger and more ugly the frog is, the harder it would be to bring your to eat. The main idea is simple, if when you get up in the morning you is eat the largest and ugliest frog everything else that day is going to go a lot better. (more…)
