The Future Is Here: Holograms

Holograms are no more a scientific fantasy, but more a scientific reality. Soon you may be able to interact with colleagues around the world as though they were right in front of you. Video conferencing may be the current answer to globalization; however, things would change with holographic devices. Families too would stand to benefit from holographic devices, especially when parents need to be out-of-town.

Holographic devices may take a while to enter the market. However, they are bound to become popular amongst consumers looking for solutions through technology. Holographic devises such as holo-projectors could be installed in offices and homes, which may soon become as popular as mobile technology. Many would love the idea of working from home and not having to commute to work since they could have an office environment within their home. The benefits of holograms could far outweigh the disadvantages, which could lead to an invasion of holographic technology in our homes. Possibly, holograms could interact with the environment.

The possibilities are endless. Of course, there will be loads of research requiring time and money to bring more than an audio visual experience to people. Technology is forever changing, which will no doubt bring about better hologram capabilities. We could see holograms having a significant impact on our workplace. Offices could be brought home, and vice versa, taking telecommuting to another level. This technology has already got many entrepreneurs designing some great applications for this new science. We may be looking at a 500 million to 1.5 Billion Dollars market in a span of two years, which would just be the beginning. Modern day holographic imaging has already seen several major breakthroughs in its technology, with the entertainment industry leading the way. Spectral Imaging has been perfected by IBM and is used as a business marketing tool. Soon it will be used to display holographic looking virtual images, or people. Welcome to the future.

If this isn’t enough for you and you would like to look at a bit more geeky things, then go to this great new enigin geek blog I found. It distracted me for hours this morning!
