007th Heaven.

When it comes to computer games I have always had a bit of a soft spot for first person shooters. I think the first one to blow me away (excuse the pun) was ‘Goldeneye’ on the Nintendo 64.

Everything about ‘Goldeneye’ was brilliantly done and it was an absolute joy to play. The missions were extremely well designed and you really did feel as though you were James Bond! However, the multiplayer game was where ‘Goldeneye’ became the most fun to play…

I must have spent many long hours creeping up on my opponents and littering their location with proximity mines! There were two different ways to kill your friends on ‘Goldeneye’ you see; by sneaking around and carrying out ‘surprise attacks’ or you could run at them with all guns blazing.

Another little method that I used to enjoy using was picking people off in a ‘sniper’ fashion. If you found a good vantage point you could then remain ‘invisible’ by turning to face a wall. When you did this, your opponent/s would not be able to see where you were hiding by looking ‘through your eyes’. A bit crafty but all’s fair in love and war…

‘Goldeneye’ has to be one of my all time favourite games. It would seem that I am not the only one either… I still regularly come across people discussing it on gaming forums. Why haven’t Nintendo done anything with it? They could create a brilliant new version of ‘Goldeneye’ with new levels as well as the old favourites. Maybe they will do one day; fingers crossed!

The payment has finally come through for that last review job that I did, you all know what that means, it’s about time to hit the high streets and pick up those running gadgets that I have been waiting to get. Neil, are you up for a little bit of shopping this week?

Acer in the Hole!

Taking the ‘Ace’ Out of Acer’ isn’t the only negative thing I’ve read about the company recently. There seems to be a lot of people who are having problems with their laptops.

A friend of mine owns an Acer laptop and an Acer netbook. Within a few weeks of getting them he has had loads of different problems with both. To finish things off, he couldn’t even find a way of ringing them up to get them repaired… it seems that they are even having problems with their phone lines!

It is all a bit of a surprise because Acer have always had such a good reputation until recently.

An Exhibition Of Exhibitions.

The, ‘PN Services’ blog has got some brilliant posts on it about many different art exhibitions and artists. But it is not just art that is covered. There are also several features on crafts, adventure travel and gaming.

I love finding blogs like this one because there are such a wide variety of things to read about!

Personally, I have always wanted to go and have a look round a gaming exhibition. The amount of work that goes into modern video game design is amazing and there must be some very interesting things to see at this type of event.
