Abusing small children- Former Soldier jailed!!!
A former solider has received one of the heaviest sentences ever handed down in Northern Ireland for child abuse. He was jailed for 20 years for abusing girls as young as seven while based in Northern Ireland, including his own nine-year-old daughter. The 38-year-old was not named to protect the identity of his victims. Craigavon Crown Court Judge Patrick Markey told him he had betrayed a sacred trust and the fundamental duty of a father to protect his child. Relatives of the victims said they are happy with the sentence, and felt that justice had been done. The man was also jailed for downloading indecent images of children from the internet. The location of where he was based at the time of the offences cannot be released to also protect the identity of his victims.
This incident brings to light the high number of abuse cases carried out throughout the country. These cases reveal how being in the discipline of army, persons fail to live like normal citizens. Child abuse has been continuing for many years now. These things should be seriously dealt with. Merely jailing or handing imprisonments in not the only solution for the society or for the country's benefit. Things should be done so that these things dont get repeated. Children are innocent, we should try to protect their innocence. Child pornography is a major setback for the internet. It should be properly tracked and the guilty should be severely punished without being given any trial, that is what i feel. There should be proper rehabilitation facilities for mentally unsound persons like the soldier in this case.
